Rashid Khan’s River-Themed Exhibition Opens in Banani on November 5

River Script combines paintings with conversations, music and a workshop at Dhaka Gallery.

Artist Rashid Khan’s solo exhibition, River Script | Nodilipi, is scheduled to open at Dhaka Gallery in Banani on November 5. According to UNB, the opening is set for 3 pm, with the exhibition continuing until November 15.

The presentation considers rivers through memory, emotion, settlements and cultural experience, rather than treating them only as landscapes. Javed Jalil has contributed curatorial exploration and writing. Organisers describe the show as the first presentation within the Our River Stories initiative.

The gallery, at House 44, Road 12, Block E, Banani, is scheduled to welcome visitors daily from 3 pm to 8 pm. Associated gatherings will explore rivers through conversations, songs, literature and readings. A workshop led by Jalil, Art in Everyday Life, is planned for November 10 at 3 pm. These are announced arrangements and remain subject to any updates from the organisers.

Context: A themed exhibition can connect individual artworks with a broader question about how people experience a place. Rivers provide one such connection because they can appear simultaneously as physical routes, sources of livelihood and subjects of personal memory. Visitors may therefore encounter different interpretations within the same exhibition.

The accompanying events create additional opportunities to discuss those interpretations outside the paintings themselves. A programme that combines viewing, conversation and practical activity can accommodate different interests, from casual visitors to people involved in art or literature. The exhibition’s public opening will allow audiences to examine how the stated theme has been developed across the works and related events, rather than relying only on the organisers’ description.
