Dhaka Agricultural Technology Fair to Open on November 5

The three-day event aims to connect farmers with researchers, equipment suppliers and investors.
The 14th International Agricultural Technology Fair is scheduled to run in Dhaka from November 5 to 7, bringing together organisations involved in farm machinery, production and agricultural innovation. BSS reported that the event will take place at International Convention City Bashundhara.
The Rural Development Academy in Bogura and Limra Trade Fairs and Exhibitions are jointly organising the fair. In a message issued on November 4, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman highlighted the importance of combining agricultural experience with modern technology to improve productivity and strengthen food security.
His message identified lower production costs, fairer returns for farmers and greater interest among young entrepreneurs as priorities. The event is intended to create connections among researchers, innovators, investors, businesses and farmers. Exhibitions are expected to cover areas including equipment, seeds, processing and crop-related technology, rather than a single segment of agricultural production.
Context: A technology exhibition can make equipment and services easier to compare, but a demonstration alone does not establish suitability for every farm. Local soil, field size, access to power, spare parts and after-sales support can influence whether a machine or production method is practical.
For visitors, the value of the fair will depend on information that extends beyond a product’s advertised performance. Operating costs, training requirements and service arrangements can matter as much as purchase price. Follow-up reporting on partnerships, trials and adoption would help show whether contacts made at the event translate into useful changes on farms. The fair’s opening is therefore a starting point for exchange, with its longer-term contribution still to be assessed.
